Wah "Nobody Thought We Could Win" Wah

March Madness is synonymous with upsets. You know what else goes along with upsets? The inevitable press conference where the coach or player waltzes up to the mic and utters the most annoying fucking line in sports: "Nobody thought we could win this game..." Umm, that's part of what makes an upset an upset... that nobody thought you could win and that you can disprove the haters. You don't have to tell us that nobody thought you could win, because we probably didn't pick you either.

But why the fuck should we? I love VCU's story but they keep saying that line at the podium. Umm, hey VCU nobody picked you because you finished 4th in a shitty conference (CAA) and based on your regular season resume you probably shouldn't have made the tournament. Not only that but your going up against superstars and future NBA players in your games... that's why nobody picked you to win. Hey news flash, I'm willing to bet your hillbilly fans in Richmond didn't even pick you to win most of those games, but you're gonna congratulate them and say that they're the best fans ever or some shit. I think it's only a matter of time before a 16 upsets a 1... but so help me god if they utter the forbidden line I will first explain to them that it is because never in the history of the sport has a 16 beaten a 1... then I would beat the bag out of them. No 15 seed won and no experts picked them to win either... fucking shocking. And look, everyone knows ESPN analysts aren't necessarily experts. I mean picking games in the tournament is like answering a question in English class. There is no wrong answer if you give enough evidence or examples to support your pick. Pretty sure I could do a decent job just like that butterball Lunardi.

My last gripe is that the word "nobody" is such an extreme word. When you say that, you are saying no living organism in the muthafuckin universe picked you to win a specific basketball game. Yo VCU, when you say nobody thought you could win, i'm pretty sure that's a huge lie because at least 2 people have you in the final 4, one by the name of Joe Pearlman. I bet Joe got mocked and ridiculed for his ridiculous final 4 pick. Probably became a social pariah and an outcast in the office... shit, he probably got fired because his boss doesn't want some lunatic who picked VCU on his staff. Now unemployed his wife probably left him... all because of that pick (a bit aggressive?). So why don't you stop saying "nobody" and at least give props to Joe.
